We thoroughly recommend a visit to the Cowdray Arms pub, just a 5 minute walk away either on the road or through the woods. They offer a delicious gastro pub menu and range of real ales, beer, wine and spirits, all at reasonable prices. Choose your cut of steak from the Steak House or maybe a curry, they even offer a value menu with meals from £4.99. They also offer a Sunday Roast, regular curry nights, Fizz Friday and a weekly pub quiz, come and join our team if you are feeling clever!

A 20 minute walk will take you into the village of Balcombe which offers a range of social and leisure activities. The Village Stores is well stocked with all the usual groceries as well as a range of local produce, cheeses, artisan bread and local game. If you are thirsty after your walk to the village, pop into the Half Moon, a community pub which we own as a village, and which offers a good menu using local produce. It is also worth a visit to the Balcombe Club, where you can enjoy a game of pool, darts, two full sized snooker tables, beer garden and large bar and seating area. The Club regularly hold entertainment including live bands, comedy nights and film nights held in the Victory Hall next door.

If you wanted to venture further afield hop on the train at Balcombe station and head to the next stop in Haywards Heath. Here you can enjoy a variety of shops and cafes as well as the popular Broadway with a range of bars and restaurants. There is also a direct service from Balcombe to London Bridge and London Victoria in just 43 minutes and Brighton in 23 minutes.

You can do a little or a lot at Worth Glamping. There are a range of good books, puzzles and games to enjoy in the evening or relaxing in the sunshine on the terrace. The surrounding woodland offers many adventures, build a camp, play hide and seek or keep watch and spot the local wildlife.

Going back to nature

By day you will see a plethora of wild birds, rabbits and maybe our resident muntjac, by night you can listen out for our family of owls calling to each other, a visiting herd of fallow deer or our local roe deer family comprising mum, dad and their fawn. We also have maps for local walks and cycle rides.

Tilgate Nature Centre

There is also Tilgate Nature Centre which is home to a variety of animals including endangered species as well as all your favourite farmyard animals. Tilgate Lake and the surrounding sivicultural forest gives you lots to explore with beautiful countryside, woodland walks and cycle paths top enjoy. Tilgate Lake also offers sailing for all ages and abilities with boat, kayak and canoe hire through Dynamic Adventures as well as fishing and even night fishing available. Open water swimming is also available on Campbells lake in Tilgate Park.

And if you still have some energy left there is an outdoor gym which is free to use all year round and offers taster sessions in the peak season as well as a super play area which is also free to use with swings, slides and climbing frames. For when you need to take a breather visit the walled garden, maze and craft studios and enjoy a cup of tea in the Cafe and picnic area. Or for something stronger pop up to the Smith and Western American restaurant offering everything from salads to steaks!

Forest School Holiday Club

Forest School Holiday Club – woodland based days out, all year round, are right on our doorstep! Whether it’s den building, exploring, muddy play or using tools, the possibilities are endless and they safely guide the children in their choice of activity, and encourage self- sufficiency. Courses and experiences can be arranged on site or at the school which is only round the corner! Tilgate Park Golf Course

Regarded as one of the best municipal courses in Sussex Tilgate Park Golf Course offers an 18 hole course incorporating trees and natural features, a 9 hole par 3 course, a 35 bay floodlit driving range, putting green, club house, restaurant and golf shop with PGA tuition also available. Golf Clubs are available to hire from us or bring your own.

Other Attractions

Other leisure activities in the area include the Dolphin Leisure Centre in nearby Haywards Heath offering swimming, a gym and fitness classes, bowling and multiplex cinema in Crawley as well as fishing and sailing at Ardingly Reservoir. We also have horse racing locally at Pumpton, Brighton and Goodwood as well as Hickstead showground offering all disciplines including polo and horse riding can be arranged on the beautiful South Downs.
